Conferences ![]() Transparency International UK has hosted or facilitated various conferences with major stakeholders in the defence sector on the topic of corruption since 2000. A selection can be found below: In July 2009, Transparency International UK's defence programme and the African Development Bank organised an conference in Tunis on "Strengthening Transparency and Reducing Corruption Risks in the Defence and Security Sector - An exploration of practical measures to address the issue across African nations" . In November 2008, at the 13th International Anti-Corruption Conference in Athens, the Transparency International defence team organised a workshop on 'tackling corruption in the defence sector'. In May 2008, Transparency International UK organised with GCSP and DCAF the Geneva workshop of institutional and inter-governmental practicioners on 'building transparency and reducing corruption in defence'. In February 2008, the defence programme presented at the Tbilisi seminar on 'Economic aspects of building integrity in defence institutions', organised by NATO and the Georgian Ministry for Defence. In 2007, the defence programme co-organised the Shrivenham conference with the UK Defence Academy and NATO a practitioners workshop on building integrity in defence establishments. In 2006, Transparency International UK participated in the 12th International Anti Corruption Conference. In 2004, Transparency International UK's defence project organised the Arundel conference, where the major defence sector stakeholders - companies, governments, academics, multilaterals, civil society - agreed practiceable measures that could be taken to address the issue. In 2001, Transparency International UK convened the Cambridge conference on "Corruption in the Official Arms Trade" in association with the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade. In 2000, Transparency International UK participated in the Stockholm conference "Colloquium on Corruption in the Arms Trade".
